What is the Oregon Dyslexia-Related Requirement?

The Oregon Dyslexia-Related training is a requirement set for forth by the Oregon legislature in 2017. It requires a universal screening for risk factors of dyslexia in Kindergarten, and requires that at least one K-5 teacher in every K-5 school complete a dyslexia-related training.

Every teacher must receive training in Three Pillars:

1. Understanding and Recognizing Dyslexia
2. Using Evidence-Based Practices to Systematically and Explicitly Teach the Foundational Skills in Reading Intensifying Instruction 
3. Meet the Needs of Students with Severe Reading Difficulties, Including Dyslexia
