The Oregon Dyslexia-Related training is a requirement set for forth by the Oregon legislature in 2017. It requires a universal screening for risk factors of dyslexia in Kindergarten, and requires that at least one K-5 teacher in every K-5 school complete a dyslexia-related training.

Every teacher must receive training in Three Pillars:

1. Understanding and Recognizing Dyslexia

2. Using Evidence-Based Practices to Systematically and Explicitly Teach the Foundational Skills in Reading Intensifying Instruction

3. Meet the Needs of Students with Severe Reading Difficulties, Including Dyslexia

Teachers take one Ashlock Academy Course to receive their Oregon Dyslexia-Related Training Certificate, Reading Academy Series A.

Reading Academy Series A: This course teaches participants how to present Structured Literacy lessons connected to Foundational Skills Standards. Some of the topics addressed in this course include Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, and Structural Analysis.

Teachers can add on our Expert Certification: Series A if they want additional information on implementing and presenting the Reading Academy course content. We recommend this course for district trainers, coaches, and grade level leads.
